Orienteering
Courses coming to a Theatre near YOU
3 meeting times over the next few months. There will be a slight change
to the format though. Instead of meeting several times then completing
an O-meet during the last class we will meet each time just before an
O-meet at the park where the event is taking place. This way we can review
the basics, learn new concepts, then go immediately and put them to use
by competing in the meet. Some of our youth from the spring session are
quite able to complete beginner to intermediate level courses so that
will be our goal for the fall- to get all the kids that show up to gain
the knowledge to complete a yellow level course.

YEREN/SYCOM
ASR Takes First Place At UNTAMED VIRGINIA
Team YEREN/SYCOM ASR was able
to stay in front of a group of fierce and competitive teams at the recent
UNTAMED VIRGINIA Adventure Race. The started from a location on the James
River just east of Lynchburg and finished on at West View – an area
in Goochland, VA, just east of Richmond and located on the James River
as well.
Team members Jeremy Kuhlen,
Chris Caul and their Navigator, Scott Pleban pushed through a brutal portage
of about 2 miles to take the lead. Through expert navigation and rock
solid team work – the three posted a win with the highest amount
of time bonuses. YEREN ASR had 6 teams competing in both races so title
sponsor and supporting sponsor as well as the co-sponsor of the winning
team, SYCOM TECHNOLOGIES, were represented well and my thanks and congratulations
go out to all members who competed in this race. Although not all teams
finished, all teams pushed through some brutally hard sections and lived
to tell about it. Photos will be posted soon.
WAY TO GO YEREN ASR.

price of $10 for members and $15 for non-members. No date has been set
yet but we will soon be establishing that with the hopes of avoiding conflicts
with races.
I’ll provide the details
as soon as they are available.
